Castro Valley

Castro Valley has a downtown boulevard, a BART station, and hills that feel a step apart from Hayward. It is unincorporated and behaves like a town anyway.

The boulevard is the center of errands and local restaurants. Neighborhoods climb toward Lake Chabot and the regional parks. Families are a large part of the civic personality, and the lack of a city council is a perpetual local topic, not a hidden fact.

BART makes Oakland straightforward. The bridge is a longer morning. The valley heat and the canyon shade can show up on the same street.
