Richmond
Golden Gate Bridge
The orange bridge is not in the East Bay. It is still part of an East Bay weekend: a ferry, a north crossing, or a long golden walk if you plan it.
People say “SF bridge” and often mean this one. It connects San Francisco to Marin, not to Oakland. From the East Bay you earn the view. The classic local version is a ferry from Oakland, Alameda, or Richmond into the city, then a bike or a bus toward the bridge, or a drive across the Richmond–San Rafael Bridge and south through Marin.
Go for the walkway on a clear morning, or for the viewpoint rather than a fantasy that it belongs to the Oakland skyline. Most days, the bridge you cross is the Bay Bridge. This is the one you plan.
