If nightlife is a requirement, not a bonus, weight Oakland and Berkeley heavily. Uptown, downtown Oakland, and the campus edge are where weeknights still happen. Walnut Creek and Concord’s plaza cover the suburban late dinner and a bar. Most other East Bay towns are done by ten, and they are not apologizing.
The Pavilion and campus events are nights out on a calendar. They are not a neighborhood. Do not move to a quiet valley and act surprised by the quiet.
